The Industrial Design Diploma Show 2024 will be open to the public from today 8th August 2024 (Thursday) until 22nd August 2024 (Thursday). We are thrilled to announce the finalists and all awards for each category of the 2024 MIA Young Musician Competition. Congratulations to all participants for their incredible performances and dedication!
The finalists will compete in the final round on July 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Please note that the location has been changed from the MIA City Campus to the Kong Choi Exhibition Room, 1st Floor of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH).
After the Final Round, the top 3 winners of each category will be invited to perform at the Winners’ Concert. The MIA scholarship awards will also be announced during the Prize Giving Ceremony on the night of July 20, 2024, at the same venue.
Congratulations again to all participants for your outstanding efforts and achievements! We look forward to an exciting final round and celebrating the talents of our young musicians.

On behalf of Illustration and Visual Communication Departments, we would like to cordially invite you and your department’s staff and students to the Official Opening of Illustration and Visual Communication Diploma Show 2024 to be held on Saturday, 18 May 2024 at 3:00pm at Level 3A of GMBB KL.

This combined exhibition titled “WE’RE..MIA“, is a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the boundless youthful spirit. This exhibition is a joint effort and celebration of the collective works of 27 recent graduates from two distinct departments. This combined exhibition is the testament of the power of collaborations and the beauty of diversity.

The exhibition will be continued until 26 May 2024 and there will be a series of activities and workshops to be held on 19, 25 & 26 May 2024.

Join us as we celebrate the recent graduates’ journey with their coordinated and organized Diploma Show, “Crazy Clover”! This unique exhibition features the works of four talented graduates, each represented by a leaf in the clover. Expect to be dazzled by their creativity and enthusiasm as they showcase pieces crafted during their course. Their motto? “Keep it crazy, Keep it real!” Don’t miss out!

📚 Comic Show: Exploring Dreams and Markets
Step into the vibrant world of comics with our curated Comic Show, brought to you by our dedicated lecturing team. Dive into the imaginative realms of “A Strange Dream” and discover the captivating narratives of “What I see at the Market.” With a diverse range of student works, this exhibition promises something for everyone!

Black and White is the continuity of the ‘Mark-Making’ departmental show back in 2019. It’s one of the most important fundamentals of artwork creation. Colors are wavelengths reflected by objects to the human eye. White is pure light and black is the absence of light. For essential questions about identity, the opposites black and white are often chosen. According to Marinus Boezem, ‘The absence of the artist’ (1970), black and white addresses themes such as identity, presence, and absence. In an educational context, black and white often applied and appeared in most of their works. Our aspiration would not limit our students and graduates to include all black-and-white elements that are made visible as an expression of applied or gestural energy lines, shapes, and countless values in this exhibition. This October, the Malaysian Institute of Art is proud to present a showcase of some of its Fine Art Department students and graduate works that celebrate this theme. Visitors can delight in viewing black-and-white executions using charcoal, acrylic, emulsion paint, enamel, pyro technique, and other unconventional techniques applied by students of MIA between Semesters 2- 6 and graduates. These aspiring young artists apply experiments in their unique approach, and each medium has distinctive tag qualities. The purest artwork process methods are the most attractive among the existing dry and mixed media. Helmed by the Head of the Fine Art Department Mr. Liu Cheng Hua and the Exhibition Curator, Ms. Kee Hooi San.
